AGREEMENT

 

BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND CULTURE

 

The Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (hereinafter referred to as "the Contracting Parties"),

Desiring to develop and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries as well as deepen cooperation in the field of education, science and culture,

Resolved to respect the principles of the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Paris Charter for a new Europe, and the Vienna Declaration of the Council of Europe,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

 

The Contracting Parties shall, in conformity with the principles of equality and mutual benefit, encourage and support exchanges and cooperation in the field of education, science, culture, art, sport, and youth.

 

Article 2

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation in education by:

2.1 Establishing direct cooperation and contacts between universities and other education institutions;

2.2 Exchanging students, lecturers, scientists, and experts based on direct cooperation between interested institutions;

2.3 Promoting study of the language, literature, culture, and history of the other country.

 

Article 3

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation in the field of culture and art through:

3.1Encouraging art exhibitions and other cultural events;

3.2 Encouraging translations and publishing of both artistic and literary works, reciprocal visits of writers, painters, musicians and other artists and supporting their activities or performances;

3.3 Transferring experience of the Ljubljana Process for the revitalization of cultural heritage to the area of the Kyiv Initiative and promoting intercultural dialogue in both Contracting Parties;

3.4 Other forms of cooperation agreed upon by the Contracting Parties.

 

Article 4

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation between institutions in the field of cultural heritage, both movable and immovable. The Contracting Parties shall also exchange information on the export of works of art as well as on preventing illegal trafficking.

 

Article 5

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation in the field of radio and television, and promote the exchange of radio and TV programmes.

They shall also promote cooperation between press agencies of both countries.

 

Article 6

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation in the field of sport, as well as exchanges between youth organizations of both countries.

 

Article 7

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage direct cooperation in the above field between governmental and non governmental institutions of both countries.

 

Article 8

 

The Contracting Parties shall encourage direct cooperation in the field of science and technology according to the principles of equality and mutual cooperation. The implementation of scientific and technological cooperation, including related obligations, will be agreed in separate periodic programmes.

 

Article 9

 

The Contracting Parties may propose amendments to this Agreement. Upon consent, these amendments shall be adopted in the form of protocols to this Agreement. The protocols shall enter info force in accordance with Article 10 of this Agreement and become its integral part.

 

Article 10

 

This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period of time. It shall enter into force on the date of receipt of the last of the notifications through diplomatic channels that the internal legal procedures required for the entry into force of this Agreement have been fulfilled.

Either Contracting party shall have the right to terminate this Agreement in writing at any time. In such a case, the Agreement shall expire 6 month following the date on which the notification of termination has been received by the other Contracting Party.

The termination of this Agreement has no effect on the implementation of programmes in progress that have not been completed during the validity of this Agreement.

Done Yerevan on 11 day of October 2010 in two originals, in the Armenian, Slovenian and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of differences in interpretation, the text in the English language shall prevail.

 

The Agreement has entered into force on 28.02.2012.
